1. Make 2 basic granny squares. 2. Join the granny squares together by sewing around the outside edges with yarn and a yarn needle. 3. Make a border around the hot pad by crocheting a single crochet stitch around the outside edge. 4. Fasten off and leave a tail of yarn for sewing.

Fruit Appliqués

Apple

1. Make a magic circle and join with a slip stitch. 2. Chain 3 (counts as a double crochet). 3. *2 double crochets in the circle; chain 2; repeat from * 11 more times. 4.
